Rocklin, Placer County
Rocklin has grown from a few thousand people in the 1970s to more than 70,000, part of the suburban arc northeast of Sacramento along Interstate 80. Sierra College has had its main campus here since 1961. Downtown, an abandoned granite pit has been remade as Quarry Park, with climbing routes and zip lines strung across the old stone walls.
